Holiday Hair: Why You Should Chop Before You Drop (in Front of Your Family and High School Crushes)
Ah, the holidays are upon us! It’s that magical time of the year when you gather with family, exchange gifts, and reminisce about the good ol’ days. But hold on a second—before you dive headfirst into the holiday cheer, let’s talk about something crucial: your hair. Yes, that tangled mess on top of your head could either be your crowning glory or the source of endless family roastings. So, why not spare yourself the embarrassment and consider a pre-holiday haircut? Let’s face it; your hair has seen better days. It’s been through the pandemic, countless Zoom calls where the camera only captures you from the shoulders up, and maybe a DIY trim or two (or three). Now, as you prepare to face the judgmental glances of Aunt Mildred and the once-unattainable crush from high school, it’s time to take action. Family Fotoshoot Fails: Imagine the horror when you gather the family for the annual holiday photo, and there you are, looking like you just survived a tornado. Your hair sticking out in every direction, a tangled mess that even a bird would hesitate to nest in. Your siblings may look like models, but you resemble the ‘before’ picture in a hair care commercial. Save your dignity and get that haircut! High School Reunion Redux: You hear the familiar jingle of the doorbell as you arrive at the annual holiday party, and there they are—the ghosts of high school crushes past. They’ve aged like fine wine, and here you are with a hairdo that screams “I gave up on life.” Do you really want to spend the entire night avoiding eye contact, fearing they might recognize you from your heyday? A fresh cut might not turn back time, but at least it’ll make you look like you’ve got your life together. Aunt Millie’s Unsolicited Hair Advice: We all have that one aunt who takes it upon herself to offer unsolicited advice. “Dear, have you considered a new hairstyle? Maybe something a bit more, um, stylish?” Spare yourself the agony of Aunt Millie’s hair intervention by going for the pre-holiday haircut. Not only will you look fabulous, but you’ll also have a foolproof excuse to avoid her “helpful” suggestions. Mistletoe Mishaps: There’s always that one relative who insists on hanging mistletoe in the most inconvenient places. Do you really want to find yourself caught beneath it with a hairdo that looks like it’s been styled by a blindfolded toddler? A fresh trim will not only save you from awkward encounters but might also increase your chances of surviving the holiday smooch unscathed. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]So, there you have it—solid reasons to book that pre-holiday haircut appointment. Don’t let your hair become the talk of the family gossip mill or the subject of high school crushes’ holiday horror stories. Take charge, my friend, and strut into those festive gatherings with the confidence of a celebrity on the red carpet. After all, the only thing worse than a bad haircut is the regret of not getting one before the holidays! You better believe that the Mug Shoppe is ready to get your holiday hair on point!
Skylark Lounge: Denver’s Timeless Music Haven
In the heart of Denver’s historic Baker neighborhood stands the Skylark Lounge, a true relic of the city’s musical history. The Skylark first opened its doors in 1943, as a place for local workers to grab a drink and relax after a long day. The Lounge, originally located at 58 Broadway (now Barry’s), moved down to its current location at 140 S. Broadway in 2004. For a bit the Skylark Lounge struggled to find it’s voice in the music scene, as the live stage sat slightly tucked away in a corner, leaving the bar-centric crowd to feel the music was more background than performance. However, that all changed and now the live music stage is smartly placed upstairs in the Bobcat Club giving concert goers an amazing an intimate experience with a large variety of musicians.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1582024570144{padding-top: 66px !important;padding-bottom: 8px !important;}” el_class=”container-large related” css_mob=”.vc_custom_1582024570145{padding-top: 16px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]The current owners of Skylark Lounge, made some great adjustments, while still paying homage to what it was, before the grand reopening in January 2022.
